Create a contact QR code
- Fill in your name and any of the contact details you want to share.
- Leave out fields you don’t need; fewer details make a smaller code.
- Download it as SVG to keep it sharp on printed business cards.
Which details the contact card saves
The code holds a vCard 3.0 contact: your name in the N and FN fields, plus ORG for the company, TITLE for the job title, TEL for a mobile number, EMAIL and URL. Empty fields are left out entirely, and commas, semicolons and line breaks in your details are escaped, so the card imports without shifting text into the wrong fields.
Keeping a printed contact code small
Every extra field makes the pattern denser. On a business card the code is often only two or three centimetres wide, so each square ends up tiny. Share only what people need, use a short website address, and download the SVG so the printer gets crisp edges instead of a blurred picture.
Contact card tips
- The details are stored in the standard vCard 3.0 format, which iPhone and Android contacts apps both import.
- A contact code is a snapshot: if your number or job changes, generate a new one.
vCard QR code questions
Can I add a photo to the contact?
No. A photo is far too large to fit inside a QR code, even a small one, so the generator only stores text fields. People who scan the code can add a photo to your contact on their own phone after saving it.
Does scanning save the contact automatically?
No. The phone shows a preview of the contact first, and the person scanning decides whether to save it. That also means they can check or edit the details before anything is added to their address book.
