URL QR code generator

Paste a link and get a QR code that opens it straight away. The address is stored inside the code itself, not behind a redirect, so it keeps working for as long as the page it points to is online.

Make a link QR code in three steps

  1. Paste or type the web address. If you leave out https://, it is added for you.
  2. Check the preview, and change the colours or size if you like.
  3. Download the QR code as PNG for screens or SVG for print.

What a link QR code stores

The code holds the web address itself, character for character. If you type an address without https://, the generator adds it, so phones treat it as a web page to open rather than as plain text. There is no short link or redirect in between, which is why the code cannot expire, and also why nobody, including us, can count its scans.

Counting scans without a tracking service

If you want to know how many people scanned a printed code, add campaign parameters to the link before you make it, for example ?utm_source=poster. Your own website analytics will then show those visits separately. The code keeps working the same way, because the extra parameters are simply part of the stored address.

Link QR code questions

Why does a longer link make a denser code?

Every character of the address has to be stored in the pattern. A longer link needs a larger QR version with more, smaller squares, which is harder to scan from far away or when printed small. Removing tracking clutter, or using a shorter address on your own site, keeps the code simple.

Will the code still work if this site shuts down?

Yes. The address is inside the printed pattern, and scanning never contacts this site, so the code depends only on the page it points to staying online. You can download it once, keep the SVG file, and print it again years later.
